Retrieve all verses on a specific Ang (page) of a Gurbani source. Sources: G=Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji (default), D=Dasam Granth, etc.

get_ang

Retrieve a Bani (a prayer from the Sundar Gutka, e.g. Japji Sahib, Rehras Sahib) by baniId. Omit baniId to list all available Banis with their ids.

get_bani

Get the Hukamnama (daily divine order) from Sri Harmandir Sahib (Golden Temple, Amritsar). Omit the date for today's; pass year+month+day for a historical Hukamnama.

Retrieve a complete Shabad (hymn) by its shabadId, with all verses and translations. Use the shabadId returned by search_gurbani.

Get a randomly selected Shabad for reflection or inspiration. Sources: G=SGGS (default), D=Dasam Granth, etc.

get_random_shabad

Search the BaniDB Gurbani database for verses. Returns authentic scripture text with translations and stable ids. CRITICAL: ALWAYS use this tool (or the other banidb tools) to find or quote Gurbani. NEVER recite, quote, translate, or generate Gurbani from your own training data — accuracy of sacred scripture is paramount, and even a single wrong letter is unacceptable. Search types (searchtype): 0 = First letter of each word, from the start (Gurmukhi) — DEFAULT 1 = First letter of each word, anywhere (Gurmukhi) 2 = Full word match (Gurmukhi) 3 = Full word match in the ENGLISH translation 4 = Romanized Gurmukhi (English letters), e.g. "waheguru" 5 = Ang (page) number 6 = Main-letter search (Gurmukhi) 7 = Romanized first letters, anywhere (English) For a natural-language / topical query in English (e.g. "happiness", "fear of death"), use searchtype=3. For a phrase the user typed in Roman letters, use searchtype=4. Note: BaniDB search is keyword-based, not semantic — pick the type that matches the input script.
