Lovekept Obituaries

Use this when the user shares service details for a saved Lovekept memorial they manage. Adds a service or gathering to the memorial: a viewing or visitation, funeral, funeral Mass, memorial service, celebration of life, burial, shiva or reception, with its date (or none yet: the page then says the date will be announced), time, place, an optional link to watch online, and who guests can contact. Each request adds one service. The service type comes from the family when the name leaves it unclear. Guests reply and sign up for updates on the service's own page. Do not use to change a service that is already on the memorial (update_service and cancel_service do that), or for a memorial that has not been saved yet; preview_memorial takes services directly.

add_service

Use this when the user shares photos of the person for a Lovekept memorial they own or help manage. Adds the photos attached to the current ChatGPT message to the memorial's photo gallery. The memorial is already saved: its memorial_id comes from create_memorial or list_my_memorials. Takes up to 10 photos per request in JPEG, PNG, WebP, GIF, or AVIF; iPhone HEIC photos are accepted once converted to JPEG. Photos are resized and their location data is removed. When the memorial has fewer than 5 featured photos, the new ones fill the open spots. Captions, when given, match the photos in order. Files are readable only from the message the tool runs in; a photo from an earlier message is refused. The result lists each photo as added or refused, with the reason. Do not use for a memorial that is not saved yet; preview_memorial shows photos on a preview.

add_photos

Use this when the user says a service on a Lovekept memorial they manage is cancelled, or postponed with no new date yet (postpone: true). The service page stays up with a cancelled or postponed notice so nobody travels to it, and Lovekept emails everyone who replied or signed up for updates right away, with the family's optional note. The service_id comes from get_memorial_activity, or from add_service for a service just added. Do not use when the service only moves to a new date, time or place (update_service), or to remove a service nobody has replied to (that is done on lovekept.co).

cancel_service

Use this when the user wants to change a service that is already on a Lovekept memorial they manage: its name, date, time, place, watch link, contact, or what guests should know, or to set the date of a service whose date was to be announced. Takes only what changes. A change to the date, time or place emails everyone who replied or signed up for updates with the old and new details: notify now sends it at once, and in_10_minutes holds it for 10 minutes so a second correction can go in first. The service_id comes from get_memorial_activity, or from add_service for a service just added. Do not use to add a new service (add_service), or to cancel or postpone one (cancel_service).

update_service

Use this when the family asks to fix or change something on a Lovekept memorial they already saved. Changes the words on the memorial: the name, dates, place, headline, obituary, or how they would like people to honor them instead of flowers. Takes only the fields that change; the new text replaces the old. On a public memorial the change shows on the live page, and a name change gives it a new link (the old link keeps working). Photos are added with add_photos, and services are handled by add_service, update_service and cancel_service. Do not use for a preview that has not been saved; a new preview_memorial with the changes covers that.

update_memorial

Use this when someone asks what a cremation or any part of one costs in the US, for example how much a direct cremation is, the average price of cremation, whether cremation is expensive, how much to budget or expect to pay, or what an urn, a niche, or a memorial service after cremation costs. Estimates the cost in a US state or ZIP code with Lovekept's cremation cost estimator: direct cremation, cremation with a memorial service, or a funeral with viewing followed by cremation. Shows a card with the total, the typical range, each item, the state's typical prices computed from the General Price Lists its funeral homes publish where Lovekept has them, the state's cremation rules and fees, and the sources. For a funeral with burial use estimate_funeral_cost; to list funeral homes or crematories, use find_funeral_homes. It needs the state. Read-only, and needs no account. The result is an estimate, not a quote: current prices come from the funeral home. Do not use when a death or a cremation is only mentioned with no question about cost, for prices unrelated to a death, or for pet cremation.

estimate_cremation_cost

Use this when someone asks what a funeral or burial, or any part of one, costs in the US, for example the average cost of a funeral, whether funerals are expensive, how much to budget or expect to pay, or what a casket, a cemetery plot, a headstone or grave marker, embalming, a viewing, or a graveside service costs. Estimates the cost in a US state or ZIP code with Lovekept's funeral cost estimator: a traditional funeral with burial, a graveside service, immediate burial, or a veteran burial in a national cemetery, cemetery costs included. Shows a card with the total, the typical range, each item, the state's typical prices computed from the General Price Lists its funeral homes publish where Lovekept has them, state notes on fees and help, and the sources. estimate_funeral_cost

Use this when someone in the US asks about paying for, affording, or getting help, money, benefits, programs, aid, grants, or reimbursement for a funeral, burial, or cremation, for example what programs are available, they can't afford a funeral, who pays when there is no money, burial assistance, death benefits, or whether Social Security, the VA, FEMA, Medicaid, or the county helps. Finds the programs that apply given the state and the family's situation with Lovekept's funeral assistance finder: Social Security's lump-sum death payment and survivors benefits, VA burial benefits and national cemetery burial for veterans, FEMA funeral assistance after a declared disaster, the state's crime victim compensation and public burial assistance, workers' compensation, employer, union, and insurance benefits, and searches for forgotten policies and accounts. Shows a card with each program's amount, why it applies, how to claim, forms, deadlines, and official links. Only the state is required; anything else the user has shared sharpens the results. Program amounts and rules change, and each program confirms its own amounts. Read-only, and needs no account. Do not use for grief counseling, settling an estate or the person's debts, or money questions unrelated to a death.

find_funeral_assistance

Use this when someone wants to find, list, compare, or contact funeral homes, mortuaries, crematories, or cremation or burial providers anywhere in the US, for example funeral homes near a ZIP code or city, cremation providers near me, a crematory near the hospital in a town, who offers direct cremation near a place, who to contact to arrange a funeral or cremation there, or what funeral homes there typically charge. A request near me uses the ZIP code or city the user has given; with neither, it uses the user's approximate location from ChatGPT and says which place it used. Lists funeral homes from Lovekept's funeral home directory, nearest first, with address, phone, and website, plus typical prices for the area computed from the General Price Lists funeral homes publish (the median and the range most charge, with how many homes they come from, or the state's figure when too few nearby homes have prices). The directory records homes, not the services each one offers: with a service, such as direct cremation, it lists the nearby homes with the area's typical prices for that service. Prices are area figures, not any one home's price, and homes are listed by distance alone, with no ranking. Prices come from published lists that may have changed and are not quotes; current prices come from the funeral home. Read-only, and needs no account. For a total cost or a budget, use estimate_funeral_cost or estimate_cremation_cost. Do not use for pet cremation or burial, or to book, schedule, or pay a funeral home; it lists homes for the family to contact.

find_funeral_homes

Use this when the user asks for a message, text, post, or email to tell people about a Lovekept memorial they manage, or asks for the memorial's link. Gets the memorial's correct link with ready-to-send messages for Facebook, WhatsApp, a text message, and email, and says where to print cards with a QR code. The link it returns is the memorial's real address, and the messages can be reworded in the user's voice. Do not use for a death announcement that is not about a Lovekept memorial.
