Chronicle Makers Tools

Chronicle Makers Tools are genealogy research tools for members of Chronicle Makers, a community of family historians working on their own deceased ancestors. Members bring their own records as text (transcriptions and abstracts) and their own working files. The tools sort, check and plan from what is sent. They add no facts, and they never say research is proved or complete: the conclusions stay with the family historian. Five jobs run on the Chronicle Makers server: - Name Finder: every form of one ancestor's name in the records sent, with a list of forms to search. - Two People, One Name: records that share a name, sorted into the people they may belong to, and what tells them apart. - Associates and Neighbors: everyone named alongside one ancestor, and the role each one plays. - Research Planner: a plan for one research question, from the goal and the research log. - Second Look: the family historian's own work checked against the records and sources sent: what holds up, what does not, and their options. Seventeen more jobs return steps that the member's own AI runs on the member's own files. Nothing from the family historian is sent to the server for these: - Research Brain: set up a project folder, log a research session into the research log, timeline and plan, and pick up where they left off. - Genealogy Research Toolkit: who was making records in a place, the forms one record exists in, coaching through a website search, a briefing on a kind of record, where a record came from, likely life events, probate and military targets, the history of a place, boundary changes, a plat drawn from a deed, a FAN diagram, a family chart, reading an old map, and dating a photograph.
