Description

Bingers is the app that keeps track of every show and movie you watch. Connect it and your assistant knows your library too. Ask what to watch tonight and get picks that skip everything you've already seen. Ask which shows you're behind on and when the next episodes air. Finish an episode, say so, and it's marked watched, with a rating if you like. You can also follow new shows, save things for later, check your favorites and your lists, and find titles similar to one you loved. Your assistant only sees your Bingers library and our catalog, and only after you approve it. It never sees your other apps, and Bingers never sees your conversation. You can choose read only when you connect, and disconnect anytime. You'll need a Bingers account: get the app for iPhone or Android at bingers.app.

Popular shows or movies on Bingers, ranked as the app's Explore tab ranks them: trending (most watched this week), new (trending titles released recently, the app's New rails), popular (most followed of all time) or upcoming (the most followed titles not out yet, across the whole catalog; the user's own next episodes and releases are get_watchlist's upcoming section). Narrows by genre and release year; each title comes with its poster. Answers 'what's new', 'a good comedy show' or 'popular sci-fi movies' when there is no seed title. Not filtered by the user's library (check_watched does that). A narrow filter can return only a few titles.

Has the user seen these titles? Returns each one's status: unknown (not in the catalog), not_in_library (never followed or watched), or the user's status with it: for a show: watch_next (an episode is out, active or a fresh premiere), collecting_dust (an episode has waited over 30 days), not_started (followed, never opened), caught_up (up to date, more to come), completed (up to date and the show is over), upcoming (nothing aired yet), watch_later (parked), stopped (gave up), progress_pending (started; the position is being derived and is ready within minutes); for a movie: to_watch (not watched, released), upcoming (not out yet, by the UTC day), watched. A show also carries all_aired_watched, verified episode by episode: true (every aired episode watched), false (some are missing behind the position), null (this call's episode budget ran out before the show; a call with fewer titles, or that show alone, verifies it). Answers 'have I seen it', and when recommending, tells which picks the user already knows.
check_watched
Titles similar to one the user liked: what other Bingers users who watched it also watched, plus TMDB's similar titles. Filter by kind, original language (ISO 639-1, e.g. 'es'), minimum year or genre; titles already in the user's library are excluded unless exclude_library is false. Answers 'something like X that I haven't seen'.
get_similar
The episodes of a show (season, number, name, air date), all seasons, one season, or one episode, with the user's own state on each: watched, when it was last watched, their 1 to 5 rating, and how it made them feel (my_feelings, where set). Answers 'how many episodes', 'when does the next one air', 'did I rate it' and 'how did I feel about it', and gives the numbers for marking one episode.
get_episodes
The user's all-time favorite shows and movies, in the order they arranged them. The strongest signal of their taste, and the seed titles for get_similar.
get_favorites
Every title the user follows (their library), paged in title order, cut by a filter: all (default), watch_later (parked shows), stopped (shows they gave up), favorites, hidden (hidden from the watch list but still followed). Each title carries the user's status with it (for a show: watch_next (an episode is out, active or a fresh premiere), collecting_dust (an episode has waited over 30 days), not_started (followed, never opened), caught_up (up to date, more to come), completed (up to date and the show is over), upcoming (nothing aired yet), watch_later (parked), stopped (gave up), progress_pending (started; the position is being derived and is ready within minutes); for a movie: to_watch (not watched, released), upcoming (not out yet, by the UTC day), watched), genres, runtime, catalog_status (the catalog's word: Continuing, Ended, Released, …), and for shows the furthest episode watched and the next one. Pass back next_cursor for more. get_watchlist is the grouped view of what is watchable now.
get_library
The titles in one of the user's lists, in the user's order, up to 200 per page. Paged: pass back next_cursor for more.
get_list
The user's custom lists (names and ids), the lists they made in the app beside the watch list. get_list returns the titles in one list.
get_lists
The titles the user watched most recently, newest first, each with when they last watched it (last_watched_at), the user's status, genres, how far they are in a show and what episode comes next. Answers 'what have I been watching' and 'what did I watch last week', one row per title.
get_recently_watched
Details of one show or movie: overview, genres, language, country, catalog_status (Continuing, Ended, Released, …), dates, runtime, where to stream in the user's country, and the user's own state with it: my_status (the same values as check_watched), how far they are, and for a movie their rating (my_rating, 1 to 5) and how it made them feel (my_feelings). Pass with_episodes to also list its episodes with the user's state on each. Answers 'where can I stream it', 'how far am I in it' and, for a movie, 'did I rate it'.
get_title
The user's watch list as the app shows it, in one call: what they can watch now and what is scheduled, grouped as the TV and Movies tabs group it. Sections: watch_next (shows with an episode out, active or a fresh premiere), collecting_dust (an episode has waited over 30 days), not_started (followed shows never opened), watch_later and stopped (parked or dropped shows with an episode out), to_watch (followed movies not watched yet, released), upcoming (next episodes and releases with a date, soonest first). Each section has its count and its first items, with genres, runtime and the next episode; counts gives the shows read by status, caught-up and finished ones included. Hidden titles are left out. One call reads the 200 most recently watched shows, the 100 newest unstarted follows and the 200 newest unwatched movies; truncated means a library went past one of those. Answers 'what's in my watchlist', 'what should I watch tonight', 'what am I behind on', 'what is coming up'.
get_watchlist
Mark episodes, seasons, whole shows or movies as watched in the user's Bingers library, optionally with a date and a rating. Each mark records a watch: one more than 12 hours after the last watch of the same episode or movie is a new play (a rewatch). Rating something already watched, with no new play, is rate_title. Returns what was marked, with names; `already` means it was already watched recently and nothing changed. With dry_run it resolves the titles and reports what it would mark, without writing.
mark_watched
Rate episodes or movies (1 to 5 stars) and record how they made the user feel, without recording a watch. Shows and whole seasons cannot be rated. A rating replaces the previous one; an empty feelings list clears them. Returns one result per change with the title's name; `already` means it was already set. Answers 'give that episode 4 stars' and 'that movie scared me'.
rate_title
Remove shows or movies from the user's Bingers library. This removes the user's data for that title from their library. Returns one result per title with its name. Answers 'take it out of my library'.
remove_from_library
Find shows and movies in the Bingers catalog by name. Returns ids, kinds, years and external ids: the id is what every tool taking a title reference expects. One name can match several titles (remakes, same-name shows), told apart by kind and year.
search_titles
Mark shows or movies as favorites in the user's Bingers library, or unmark them with `favorite: false`. Returns one result per title with its name; `already` means nothing changed. Answers 'that's one of my favorites'.
set_favorite
Set the user's own status with a show (the my_status other tools return) to stopped (they gave up on it), watch_later (parked for later), or active (clears either, so the show follows its episodes again). Shows only: a movie has no such status, a followed movie waits on the watch list. Returns one result per change with the show's name; `already` means nothing changed. Answers 'I gave up on it' (stopped) and 'save that show for later' (watch_later).
set_my_status
Undo watches: mark episodes, seasons, whole shows or movies as not watched in the user's Bingers library. This removes their watch history for what it covers. Returns what was unmarked, with names. Answers 'I didn't actually watch that'.
