BuyRecord

BuyRecord helps you check a product before buying it: what the store promises if it goes wrong, and, as stores join, how often buyers were happy with it or sent it back. Today, for more than a million products from US online stores, BuyRecord gives the price, availability, the store's return window and whether returns are free, and the average rating and number of reviews the store shows on its own site. These facts come from the store's own pages and are always labelled "published on the merchant's site, not verified". Products matched to a US CPSC recall are flagged. You can compare up to five products, or look up a store's return policy. Verified outcomes are the heart of BuyRecord, and they are just starting. Stores that connect BuyRecord share their orders, refunds and returns (read-only, without customer details), and buyers' assistants report how a purchase went. From these, BuyRecord computes a score from 0 to 100 with the number of verified outcomes behind it and the most common return reasons (size, quality, not as described, late delivery, damaged). No score is shown below 5 verified outcomes. Most products have no score yet, and BuyRecord says so rather than guessing. After a purchase, you can report how it went: kept, kept and liked, complained, or returned, and why. A report counts only with a proof of purchase that BuyRecord can check: the order and confirmation numbers from a connected Shopify store, or the store's original confirmation email, whose cryptographic signature is verified. Reporting needs a one-click connection; looking things up does not. BuyRecord never stores buyer names, emails or addresses; order numbers are kept only as one-way hashes. BuyRecord sells nothing.
