Description

CauseComp brings nonprofit compensation benchmarks into ChatGPT. Ask in plain language - for example, what an executive director typically earns at a $5M human-services organization in Ohio - and get benchmark pay ranges for the role, organization size, sector and location, with the data vintage and method attached. Executive benchmarks are built from IRS Form 990 filings (Schedule J and Part VII). Workforce benchmarks for broad-based roles such as nurses, accountants and program managers draw on BLS wage data. You can also look up what a specific organization reported on its Form 990, assemble a set of comparable organizations for a role, read what a role does, and produce a board-ready compensation report. Boards, compensation committees and HR leaders use CauseComp when setting or reviewing pay. CauseComp provides comparability data for informational purposes and does not provide legal or tax advice. Data like this supports — but does not by itself establish — a board's rebuttable presumption of reasonableness under IRC §4958 (intermediate sanctions), which also requires advance approval by an independent board body and contemporaneous documentation.
