Identifies which planets are benefic (helpful) vs malefic (harmful) specifically for this person's ascendant sign — the same planet can help one lagna and hurt another. planets_functional_classification

Identifies exception conditions that override a planet's expected behavior: retrograde (planet gives results in delayed, unusual, or internalized ways), combustion (within 6° of Sun = planet loses its individual signification, cannot deliver fully), planetary war (two planets within 1° = weaker planet is severely damaged), and exact exaltation/debilitation degree (peak strength or peak weakness). Always check BEFORE interpreting any planet's results — a strong exalted planet that is also combust is severely compromised. Shows each planet's position across 16 key divisional charts simultaneously — the full varga matrix. Each varga reveals a specific life dimension: D1=physical life, D9=marriage/soul, D10=career, D7=children, D12=parents, D16=vehicles/comforts, D20=spirituality, D30=misfortune, D60=karma. Use for: 'give me a complete multi-dimensional chart reading', 'how is my career destiny' (check D10), 'what is my marriage quality' (check D9). Interpret: a planet strong in D1 but weak in D10 = good personality but career struggles. Vargottama (same sign in D1 and D9) = exceptionally strong planet.

Calculates exact degree-based aspect strength (0-100%) between every planet pair. Unlike sign-based classical aspects, sputha reveals precisely how strongly planets influence each other. A 43% aspect is weak influence; 85%+ is strong activation. Shows where current planets are transiting relative to natal houses, with favorable/unfavorable verdict from lagna and Moon. This is the real-time cosmic weather — the external triggers activating the natal chart. from_date/to_date are OPTIONAL — omit them to default to the next 12 months from today; pass them only for a specific window (from_date can equal to_date for a single day). Use for: 'how will today/this week/this month be', 'when will Jupiter help my career', 'why is this period so difficult', any timing or prediction question. ALWAYS pair with planets_ashtakavarga to verify bindu count (transit favorable only if 4+ bindus in that house). ALWAYS pair with planets_vimshottari_dasha — transit without dasha context is incomplete. Interpret: favorable=true + high bindus + dasha lord transiting well = strong positive period.

planets_transits

Measures each planet's aggregate strength across 16 divisional charts on a 0-20 scale. Complements shadbala: a planet can have modest D1 strength but high vimsopaka, meaning it delivers subtly but reliably across all life dimensions. Score 15-20=very strong, 10-15=good, below 10=weak. Use for: 'how strong is my planet overall across all life areas', 'why does this planet give inconsistent results', deep strength analysis beyond shadbala. Interpret: high vimsopaka + weak shadbala = planet works better at a spiritual/deeper level; strong shadbala + weak vimsopaka = planet is powerful in D1 but not consistently across vargas.

Calculates shadow sub-planets that reveal hidden malefic influences not visible from the main 9 planets. Gulika (most important, son of Saturn) is a strong sensitizing signal for the house it occupies. Mandi in H7 = classical sensitivity in partnerships; in H1 = sensitivity in vitality/self; in H2 = classical caution around finances. Also provides Mrityu Bhaga (a classical critical degree) — a planet at this exact degree is considered notably weakened in its expression. Identifies destiny-shaping planetary combinations — yogas (positive: wealth, power, fame) and doshas (negative: obstacles, delays, reduction of benefic results).
