Description
Read the content of U.S. local hazard mitigation plans. OpenFEMA publishes plan status and dates, not the content of the plans. This service adds that content: it uses model extraction to retrieve values from the plan documents themselves, including hazard history, risk rankings, loss estimates, National Flood Insurance Program participation, capability, dams, development trends, plan maintenance, cited data sources, lifelines, climate projections, prior action status, public engagement and mitigation actions, and cites each value to its document and page with the quoted text. Results are qualified by stated rules. For each place the current approved plan is listed first, a newer version in FEMA review follows it, and an older plan is listed only when the current plan's content is not yet held. Responses identify the recorded plan status and dates, registry snapshot date and document type. Where an accuracy percentage is reported, it measures main-value agreement in an aggregate checked sample, not verification of every returned entry. Entries found incorrect in spot checks are not served. Automated screens remove detected personal names, contact details, street addresses and coordinates from served plan text. These screens may miss information; report a concern to [email protected]. Values are as recorded in the plan at its date. They are not current conditions and are not determinations of plan compliance or funding eligibility. When a plan's content is not yet in the library, the response says so. Results are limited to 500 matches per query. No sign-in required. Not affiliated with or endorsed by FEMA, any other government agency, or OpenAI.
