Keşke ("if only" in Turkish) answers a question many savers in Türkiye ask: "If I had put that money into gold, dollars or the stock market back then, what would it be worth today, after inflation?" Tell ChatGPT an amount in Turkish lira, every month or once, and a start month, for example "If I had put 5,000 TL a month into gold since January 2020, what would it be worth today?" Keşke calculates the result for gold bullion, the US dollar, the euro, the BIST 100 index, Turkish government bonds (DİBS) and TL deposits, and shows it in a card: - what the payments would be worth now, for each asset; - the gain or loss after inflation (real return), measured against the same payments restated in today's lira with consumer inflation (CPI); - the same money kept as TL cash, and how much buying power it lost; - each asset month by month on one scale. In the card you can change the amount, the months, monthly or once, and whether the amount rises with inflation. Keşke also shows each asset's return before and after inflation over any period, such as the last 12 months or a calendar year, and what a lira amount from a past month is worth in today's money. Data: TÜİK's monthly bulletin of real rates of return of financial investment instruments (Kaynak: TÜİK), from January 1997 to the latest published month; government bonds from January 2005.
