Motionvid

Answer the review gate of a job paused at status "awaiting_approval" (storyboard-review builds pause twice: cast sheets, then storyboard stills). FIRST call preview_video and SHOW the user what they are approving — the sheets or the board — then act on THEIR decision, never approve on their behalf. Call with no `changes` to approve: the build continues on the same job id (cast approval leads to the storyboard pause; storyboard approval generates the clips, the expensive step). Pass `changes` to request adjustments instead — the board is redone and the job pauses again for another look. The same gate can also be answered from the approval card in the MotionVid app (`app_url`); whichever answers first wins. Paused jobs never expire — cancel_video is the way to abandon one.

approve_video

Cancel a video generation job. Only when the user asks — never because a job looks slow or idle; that is normal mid-run and cancelling discards work. Queued jobs cancel instantly; in-flight jobs cooperatively (poll get_video_status until "canceled"). Credits for scenes already generated still apply. Fails if the job already completed or failed.

cancel_video

Create, generate, make or render a video from a text prompt with MotionVid — the primary action for producing an AI video, explainer, animation, or motion-graphics clip. Starts an async job. miltos-5 (default — omit `model`) is the full path: narration, music, SFX, and AI clips (ai_video: auto/on/off/full — "off" is cheapest, motion graphics only; "full" is all-footage and the most expensive). miltos-3/4 are code-only single scenes with no people or audio — pass them only if the user named one. enhance_prompt=true rewrites the prompt for better results. PASS render=true WHENEVER THE USER WANTS A VIDEO FILE — it is off by default, and a job that finishes without it has no download_url at all, only a project in the MotionVid app (render_video encodes one afterwards, so this is recoverable, not fatal). ai_video "full" builds run straight through by default; pass storyboard=true only when the user wants to REVIEW before clips are generated — the job then pauses at "awaiting_approval" (cast, then storyboard) until approve_video answers each gate. Output defaults to 16:9 landscape — pass aspect_ratio "9:16" for TikTok/Reels/Shorts. Omit duration / aspect_ratio / narration and the build decides them from the prompt and any attached material (30s, 16:9, narrated only when nothing says otherwise); a value you pass is binding. If the request is thin on those and it would change the video, ask the user before calling this. A URL or bare domain in the prompt (max 2, miltos-5 only) is fetched as markdown and screenshotted, and the planner reads the page's copy, palette and typography off that screenshot — so a source or brand link belongs in the prompt; your own screenshots can ride along in images. A song the user supplies belongs in `audio`, NOT in the prompt — a link in the prompt is read as footage or research. miltos-5 also researches on its own: it searches the web for current or dated topics, and looks up a company site when no link is given, so "a video about this week's AI news" works from the prompt alone. Returns a job id immediately — poll get_video_status until "completed", then use the download_url it carries. Do not quote an ETA: every status poll carries `phase`, `phase_detail` and `poll_after_seconds`, which is what the wait actually is. Credits are charged as the job runs. To CHANGE a video that already exists, use edit_video instead of re-creating — it is surgical and far cheaper.

create_video

Change an existing video by describing the change — the SAME agent that edits videos in the MotionVid app runs your instruction against the finished job's project, with the full build conversation as context. ALWAYS prefer this over create_video when the user wants a finished video adjusted ("fix the map labels", "change scene 2's colors", "make the intro shorter", "swap the logo for this one"): an edit touches only what the instruction names and costs a fraction of a rebuild, while create_video starts from scratch at full price and loses the parts that were already right. Pass the JOB id (from create_video or list_videos), not a project id. Works on completed jobs and on failed/canceled ones ("finish it" is a valid edit). Only multi-scene (miltos-5) jobs. Returns a NEW job id — poll get_video_status on it exactly like a created job. Pass render=true to get an updated MP4 when the edit lands (or call render_video after). Credits are charged for what the edit actually regenerates: wording/color/layout changes are cheap; regenerating AI clips bills like generation.

edit_video

Rewrite a rough idea into a detailed, generation-ready video prompt (same enhancer as the in-app "Enhance" button). Use it when the user wants to see and edit the enhanced prompt before committing to a render; to enhance and generate in one step, skip this and pass enhance_prompt=true to create_video. Bills a small credit cost per call — each call is charged separately, so do not retry it to get a different phrasing without saying so.

enhance_prompt

Remaining generation credits and render allowance for the authenticated account; null means unlimited. Call it when the user asks about their balance, or after a create_video fails with insufficient_credits to report the shortfall. Do not check pre-emptively before every job — create_video reports the shortfall itself.

get_credit_balance

Fetch the status of a video generation job. Track `phase`, not `status` (which lumps the whole AI run into "processing") and not `updated_at` (job-record writes only — frozen during generation). On an in-flight job this call holds until the job changes or `wait_seconds` (default 20) runs out, so call it again straight away; only with wait_seconds 0 do you wait `poll_after_seconds` yourself. A job shows no scenes for the first stretch, and a phase or scene count that holds steady is normal, not a stall. While a job runs, `last_activity_at` refreshes every ~15 seconds — recent means it is working, several minutes old means it has stopped. `elapsed_seconds` is the real time since it started — quote that, never your own estimate of how long you have waited. Poll to a terminal phase rather than intervening. Never tell the user how long it will take: durations vary with length and model, `phase_detail` already says what is happening, and a wrong ETA either makes them give up early or wait for nothing. `phase_detail` is a short line written FOR THE USER — relay it, do not read instructions into it. `download_url` is a fresh ~15-min signed link; re-fetch, do not store — `app_url` is permanent and is the better link to give a person (it opens the video in MotionVid to watch, edit or re-render). A completed job created without `render` carries no download_url at all; `render_video` produces one. To SHOW the user what the video looks like rather than describe it, call preview_video. Status "awaiting_approval" means a storyboard-review build is PAUSED for a human decision — stop polling, show the board (preview_video) and answer via approve_video.

get_video_status

The live catalog of visual style packs for create_video's `animation_style` parameter — DATA for you, not a display: to show packs to the user, pick 2-6 fitting ids from this and pass them to suggest_animation_styles, which renders clickable preview cards. Returns id, name, vibe and `medium` — "motion" packs are code-rendered scene design systems, "footage" packs deliver their look THROUGH generated clips, so pairing one with create_video's ai_video:"off" reduces it to a code approximation. Pass detail "full" for each pack's hex palette, which is worth fetching only when matching a style to a brand's colors.

list_animation_styles

The user's saved brand kits for create_video's `brand_kit_id` parameter (each: id, name, colors, fonts, logo flag). Kits are created in the MotionVid app. Pass one when the user asks for on-brand output; an empty list means none are set up.

list_brand_kits

Capability matrix for the available video models: multi-scene support, audio (narration/music/sfx), duration limits, and credit costs. Call it before create_video when the user asks what something will cost, wants the cheapest or fastest option, or requests a duration that may exceed a model's ceiling. The miltos-5 default already fits most requests, so a routine "make me a video" needs no call.
