Near Here

Open one UK town picker only when no destination was named and a near-me hint cannot uniquely resolve, or the person explicitly asks for the picker. If they already named a town, use resolve_location with that destination instead; never make them enter it again. Call once, then wait for the person to choose. Do not search meanwhile or open another picker. Selection shares a canonical public town URL; use its exact path and continue the original request, preserving dates, filters and privacy. A ready picker is a normal step, not a failure. Acknowledge any opt-out as excluded from Near Here usage statistics; never show implementation parameter names, code, catalogue identifiers or privacy flags in the reply.

choose_location

Find what is on near a UK town or city: upcoming pub quizzes, craft fairs, village fêtes, live music and other local events. Use for requests such as "what is on this weekend?", "events near me tomorrow evening" or "live music near Norwich tonight". Supports dates, start-time bands, event categories and ticket-price filters, including Likely free. UK event destinations only; not restaurant recommendations, general sightseeing, ticket booking or event submission. Never construct or guess place_id. For a destination already named in chat, first call resolve_location with that town and optional county. A unique returned match supplies the canonical place_id: search immediately without a picker or repeat question. For multiple matches clarify the county in chat and use the chosen returned place_id. For an already resolved town or a unique resolved near-me hint, search immediately without another location question. Preserve the original filters after picker selection. For follow-ups retain unchanged filters and the town, resetting page to 1 when filters change; for the next page retain page_size and filters. Filter by today, tomorrow, this weekend, an exact on_date or a seven-day week_start (choose one), morning/afternoon/evening start time, category and ticket price. Use search_window for the actual UK date/time scope. Unknown start times cannot match a time band. This tool returns data without opening cards. When the requested results are final, call display_events once with display_request unchanged only if this client supports cards; otherwise reply using the complete linked listings. Never repeat this search to open cards or display intermediate searches. After display_events, give a brief town/date/time introduction. If you choose to mention events, copy their complete listing_markdown lines unchanged. For more-results replies, either introduce the new page without naming events or use those complete linked lines; never shorten them into title/time bullets. Always retain Likely free in any prose price summary, including next-page or closest-match wording. Do not silently broaden empty searches. Paid promotion is excluded; paid-boosted events may match ordinary search; house editorial picks keep their label. Every event is returned as one complete listing_markdown. If you mention an event, copy that entire linked listing unchanged, including the qualified price, both dates of an overnight range, source link and any publisher/licence/change notice. This is required even in a shortened shortlist, recommendation, comparison or next-page reply. Never extract only its title, time or venue. Use listing_markdown intact for any event mentioned in prose, preserving its full UK-local date/time, qualified price and all links. Never shorten Likely free to free. Unknown prices are not free; do not infer age suitability or accessibility. Honour a conversation usage-statistics opt-out by setting include_in_usage_stats=false on this and every later search/detail call. More details and saved events are available through the Near Here links. Choose Save for later on the event page to save in that browser without an account; optional website sign-in keeps picks across devices. Never require sign-in just to save.

search_events

Resolve the town or city already named for the requested event search, with its county when supplied, without opening a widget or asking for the same town again. Supply only that destination, never the full message or an address. If no destination was named, omit destination to use a coarse UK near-me hint. A named destination always takes priority over that hint. With one returned place and needs_location=false, search immediately using its exact place_id and name the town. For multiple named-destination matches ask which returned town and county they mean in chat, then use that returned place_id; do not open the picker. If eight candidates are returned, a county qualifier can narrow further namesakes. With no named-destination match ask for a corrected town or county; do not substitute the hint. Use choose_location only when no destination was named and the hint cannot uniquely resolve, or the person asks for the picker. Never guess place IDs. No home address, postcode or coordinates needed.

resolve_location

Look up public UK towns typed into the destination picker. This UI operation takes no address, postcode or account information. Candidate places stay in the component until the person chooses one.

resolve_location_from_picker

Read more about an event already found with Near Here: its date, time, venue, qualified price and organiser link where available. Use for follow-up questions about a returned event_id; use search_events to discover events. This tool returns data without opening cards. If this client supports cards, call display_events once with display_request unchanged; otherwise reply using the complete linked listing. Use listing_markdown intact for an event-specific reply, preserving its full UK-local time, qualified price, links and any licensed-source notice. Never shorten Likely free to free. Missing information stays unknown; do not infer age suitability or accessibility. Honour a conversation usage-statistics opt-out with include_in_usage_stats=false on this and every later search/detail call. To save: open its Near Here link and choose Save for later. This saves in that browser without an account. Optional sign-in keeps picks in an account across devices; never claim sign-in is required. The tool itself cannot save anything.

get_event

Display final event cards once after search_events or get_event. Copy that result’s display_request exactly as this tool’s arguments; do not change filters, invent facts or pass event content. Do not display intermediate searches or the same requested view twice. For the next page or changed filters, first obtain the new data and use its new display_request. This reuses bounded canonical discovery, adds no analytics view and stores nothing. If the client displays cards, give a brief town/date/time introduction; otherwise use the complete linked listings in this result. Success prepares the data and does not confirm that the client rendered cards.
