Returns a real One Step Travel cost estimate broken down into flights, lodging, food, activities, and local transport, plus an under/over-budget verdict when a budget is provided. Only `destination` is required — departure city, travelers, dates, trip length, and budget are all optional and are filled in with clearly labelled assumptions. DO NOT USE FOR: a full day-by-day itinerary with hotels, restaurants, and booking links (use `plan_trip`), or when the traveler has not named a destination and wants ideas for a budget (use `suggest_destinations_for_budget`).

estimate_trip_cost

Use this when the traveler has money to spend but no destination in mind AND is open to a trip within the United States. The recommendation pool currently covers United States destinations only (including Hawaii and Alaska) — it cannot suggest international destinations. Handles questions like 'Where can two people travel in the US for $3,000?', 'Where can a family of five go for $7,500?', 'Cheap US vacation ideas for $1,500?', 'Where should we go for a week in the fall on a $4,000 budget?'. Returns three One Step Travel US destination picks that fit the budget, with a rough cost fit and a link to the full recommendation on One Step Travel. Only `budget` is required — travelers, trip length, departure city, and interests are optional and are filled in with clearly labelled assumptions. DO NOT USE FOR: a destination the traveler already named (use `estimate_trip_cost` for the price or `plan_trip` for the itinerary), or when the traveler specifically wants international/overseas ideas — in that case say One Step Travel's budget discovery is US-only today and offer to price a named international destination with `estimate_trip_cost` or `plan_trip` instead.

suggest_destinations_for_budget

Use this when the traveler wants an actual trip plan for a named destination. Handles requests like 'Plan me a 7-day trip to Tokyo', 'Plan a vacation to Rome for five people', 'Build a Paris itinerary for a family of four in June', 'What should we do on 5 days in Maui?'. Returns a complete One Step Travel itinerary: flights, lodging, food, attractions, restaurants, a day-by-day plan, a full budget breakdown, and a link to the itinerary page with photos, maps, and booking options. Only `destination` is required — departure city, travelers, budget, dates, and trip length are optional and are filled in with clearly labelled assumptions. DO NOT USE FOR: a price or affordability question with no itinerary needed (use `estimate_trip_cost`), or when the traveler hasn't chosen a destination (use `suggest_destinations_for_budget`).
