Parliament Connect

Fetch one UK Parliament clip from the user’s Parliament Connect library by id: the spoken transcript, the speaker, party, and sitting date, and shareable video URLs. The transcript is returned up to 15,000 characters, and transcript_truncated marks the rare clip long enough to be cut. The id must come from a search result — ids cannot be guessed. The library holds House of Commons chamber sittings only. Does not spend the account’s search allowance.

Searches what MPs said in the House of Commons chamber: the spoken transcripts behind the signed-in user’s Parliament Connect clip library, returning transcript evidence and playable clip URLs. Covers requests such as "find the clip where the Chancellor mentioned fuel duty", "what did this MP say about housing", "has any MP mentioned my constituency since March", or "clips of Labour MPs on the NHS". Matching runs over spoken transcripts only, never AI-generated descriptions, and is limited to the MPs the account’s plan covers. Coverage is House of Commons chamber sittings: the House of Lords, select and public bill committees, Westminster Hall and the devolved legislatures are not in the library, and a member of the Lords resolves as a member while returning no clips. A no_matches outcome with total_count 0 means nothing in the library matched the query within the requested filters and scope; a no_matches carrying a positive total_count means the requested offset is past the end of that result set, and the earlier pages still hold matches. search_type "text" runs stemmed all-term full-text matching — stop words such as "the" and "to" are dropped and every remaining term must appear somewhere in the transcript, in any order, with inflections matched — so it is not a literal phrase match and a result need not contain the query verbatim; search_type "context" matches the underlying idea by AI semantic similarity, which is the case a text search returning no_matches is describing. Optional filters: MP by public Parliament member id or current display name, party, and Parliament event sitting date. The account is resolved automatically from the user’s live subscriptions; no account identifier is accepted. Returns at most 20 clips per page and the first 100 matches per query, with count, total_count, has_more, next_offset and next_limit. Each result carries public_url, an anonymous non-indexed video link, and private_url, the authenticated shared Clip Library page.

Matching combines AI semantic similarity with full text over spoken transcripts, scoped to the account’s plan, and returns the top 10 clips. Coverage is House of Commons chamber sittings: the House of Lords, select and public bill committees, Westminster Hall and the devolved legislatures are not in the library, and a member of the Lords resolves as a member while returning no clips. A no_matches outcome with total_count 0 means nothing in the library matched the query within the requested filters and scope; a no_matches carrying a positive total_count means the requested offset is past the end of that result set, and the earlier pages still hold matches. A result id passed to the fetch tool returns that clip’s transcript, up to 15,000 characters. search_parliament_speeches exposes the same library with MP, party and sitting-date filters and pagination. Each search spends one request from the account’s search allowance.
