Description

Shorty turns long videos, audio files, documents, and web pages into readable summaries and accurate transcripts. The Shorty plugin lets ChatGPT run that library end-to-end: start a summary from a YouTube link, a web page, pasted text, or a file already uploaded to your account; transcribe a publicly accessible audio or video URL; generate subtitle tracks for a video you provide; then poll the job until it reaches a terminal state and pull the finished article or transcript back into the conversation. It can also search your existing summaries, open a specific article or transcription, list what you made recently, check how much of your monthly quota is left, and search Shorty's own documentation. Access runs through OAuth 2.1 with PKCE. You choose which scopes to grant on the consent screen — separate read scopes for articles, transcriptions, jobs, usage and docs, and separate write scopes for creating summaries and transcriptions — and any tool whose scope you did not grant is never offered to the assistant at all. Consent is re-checked on every individual tool call, so revoking Shorty from Connected AI Apps in Settings stops the assistant immediately rather than at token expiry. Write tools are backed by an idempotency ledger, so a retried request will not create duplicate jobs, and no tool deletes or overwrites work you already have. Summaries and transcriptions consume your Shorty plan's monthly quota; the assistant can check the remaining balance before starting a long job.
