TaqMan Assay Search

Use this when the user explicitly wants to add a specific TaqMan Gene Expression product to their Thermo Fisher cart. This tool changes external cart state and returns a cart link the user can follow to continue checkout. sku is the catalog number and id is the assay identifier. Use only for Gene Expression assay products already identified in the session. Do not use this tool to search products, compare assays, or add products outside the Gene Expression assay portfolio.

taqman_add_to_cart

Use this when the user asks to check whether a list of TaqMan Gene Expression assay IDs may have sequence interactions that could cause multiplexing problems. Accepts up to 25 assay IDs as plain text, comma separated text, or a list. The tool imports assay metadata, reports invalid IDs, groups valid assays by application, and runs MIC compatibility checks for each application group.

taqman_multiplex_interaction_check

Use this when the user asks to compare 2 to 3 specific TaqMan Gene Expression assay IDs side by side. Compare only Gene Expression assay products already identified or explicitly requested by the user — do not compare assay technologies outside this portfolio (e.g. SNP genotyping, CNV, miRNA). Opens the product comparison widget for those assays. Do not use for keyword search, single-assay detail lookup, or cart actions. For more than 3 assay IDs, use taqman_get_details for each assay instead. Keep assistant text brief after the widget renders; do not restate the comparison data unless the user asks for a summary, analysis, or recommendation.

taqman_compare

Use this when the user wants to narrow or drill down into an existing TaqMan Gene Expression result set after taqman_search has already returned results. Provide the original keyword plus structured selected_filters resolved from applicableFilters.queryValueMap. Do not use this for a brand-new first-turn search; use taqman_search instead. Do not use for SNP genotyping, CNV, miRNA, or any assay category outside the Gene Expression portfolio. Do not pass raw backend filter strings. Returns filtered topResults, totalHits, and refreshed applicableFilters for additional refinement.

taqman_apply_filters

Use this when the user independently asks for the probe context sequence, amplicon context sequence, or both for a specific TaqMan assay ID. This returns only the requested context data and does not open the product-details widget. Use the returned text content or structuredContent.contextSummary as the response summary.

taqman_get_context_sequence

Use this when a first-turn Gene Expression search contains natural-language qualifiers that need canonical mapping before calling taqman_search — for example, species names or common assay-category phrases. It may also help identify valid Gene Expression filters and app-specific terminology (e.g. VIC-PL = VIC Primer Limited, Recommended/Inventoried = catalog/availability filters). Do not use this as a general scientific or product-advisory tool outside Gene Expression. It returns curated canonical values only and does not search products. Do not use after taqman_search has already returned applicableFilters.

taqman_get_search_hints

Use this when the user asks to search for TaqMan Gene Expression assays by gene symbol, assay ID, or keyword — for Gene Expression catalog searches only. Pass qualifiers (species, attributes) as selected_filters, not inside keyword. Use taqman_get_search_hints first if a qualifier needs canonical mapping. Do not use for follow-up narrowing after results are available; use taqman_apply_filters. Do not use for SNP genotyping, GT assays, copy number/CNV, miRNA, arrays, instrument compatibility, master mix selection, multiplexing strategy, dye selection strategy, or general scientific reasoning. Do not use merely because a gene name was mentioned — the user must be requesting Gene Expression assay/product/catalog information. Returns topResults, totalHits, and applicableFilters for refinement.

taqman_search

Use this when the user requests details for a specific Gene Expression assay ID or selects a catalog result. Do not use merely because a gene symbol or assay-like term was mentioned — the user must explicitly request assay details or select a result from a prior search. Do not use for keyword search, comparison, or cart actions. Always provide the main fields and important information from structuredContent.details in assistant text. Always do this regardless of whether the requesting client renders the product-details widget. Do not answer only that the details are shown above. Include all important fields available for the product, even when the widget renders only part of the payload. Set include_context_sequence=true only when the user explicitly asks for probe or amplicon context sequences.

taqman_get_details

Use this tool when the user asks for genome data using aliases such as 'genome', 'genome map', 'genome data', 'map data', 'genomic map', 'transcript map', 'exon map', chromosome mapping, transcript coverage, or exon/chromosome/gene mapping around a transcript accession, assay ID, gene symbol, gene ID, or product link. For transcript context, pass input_type='transcript_id'. For assay context, pass input_type='assay_id'. For gene or gene-symbol context, pass input_type='gene_symbol'. If the user asks for genome-map data without a clear identifier type, pass input_type='auto'. If the user supplies ncbi_node_id or a species/NCBI node alias, pass ncbi_node_id to refine the resolver request. This is separate from keyword catalog search: do not use taqman_search for genome map lookup. The tool resolves the identifier to a genomic region, then fetches AlignMap mapdata and optional chrdata for online gene expression product_type 'ge'. It opens the genome-map widget and returns raw mapDataResult/chrDataResult plus named sections for resolvedRegion, chromosome, transcripts, genbanks, exons, genes, assays, and related feature collections.
