Checks whether a customer's vehicle is currently taxed and when the tax is due for renewal. IMPORTANT: Only call this tool when the customer explicitly asks you to check the tax status of a vehicle. A registration number mentioned in passing — for example when describing a parked car, reporting an incident, or giving context — is NOT sufficient reason to call this tool. Use this tool only when the customer's intent is clearly one of: - Checking whether their own vehicle is taxed or road-legal - Finding out when their vehicle tax expires or needs renewing - Confirming tax status before driving or selling a vehicle Do NOT use this tool for: - MOT status or expiry checks (different tool/service required) - Insurance queries or proof of insurance - SORN (Statutory Off Road Notification) enquiries - Ownership or V5C logbook queries - Any message where a registration number is mentioned incidentally The customer must explicitly ask for a tax check and provide their vehicle registration number. If they haven't provided it, ask for it before calling this tool. Returns the registration number, tax status (e.g. "Taxed", "Not Taxed"), and the date the tax is due.
