Find education standards, by ONE of two modes — provide exactly one of: - `code`: an exact statementCode OR a code prefix (e.g. '3.NF.A.1' for that standard; '2.OA' for all '2.OA.*'). Matches the code itself or any code beneath it. Some standards also carry an alternate code (returned as `alternateStatementCode`); `code` matches that too, so a standard can be found by either code. - `keywords`: standards whose description matches ANY of these words by stem (case-insensitive, whole-word — e.g. 'fraction' also matches 'fractions' — not substring; use when you know a topic but not a code). The modes are not combined: if both are given, `code` wins. Optionally scope with `jurisdiction` (defaults to the Common Core / Multi-State version; pass a state for its adopted wording) and `academicSubject`. Always pass the U.S. state in `jurisdiction` — never put a state name in `keywords` (keywords match description text, not the state). For Washington D.C., use exactly 'Washington, D.C.' (not 'District of Columbia'). Pass `academicSubject` whenever the subject is known — the same code can exist in more than one subject. Search strategy: if a code search returns nothing, the code's format likely differs from how it appears here — retry with `keywords`; the results carry real `code` values that show the correct format, which you can then use to retry the code search. Conversely, a keyword match's `code` can seed a code search for related standards (e.g. its parent prefix to pull the whole family). Returns a `standards` array: usually one for an exact code, but a code can map to more than one standard (most often the same code across academic subjects, e.g. 'RI.5.2' as both ELA and Social Studies). Each standard includes a `subStandards` array when it has children (e.g. '3.NF.A.3' → '3.NF.A.3.a'-'d'). Always pass session_id, copied from the most recent tool result (analytics only).

find_standard_statement

Given a CASE caseIdentifierUUID for a standard (obtained via find_standard_statement), return the authoritative Learning Components (LCs), aligned to that standard. Learning Components break broad standards into smaller, teachable skills. This can be useful when an educator or prompt needs to focus instruction at a finer grain size—for example, creating practice problems, assessment items, or interventions where each item targets a different learning component. Coverage: math standards (CCSS-M, where Jurisdiction is "Multi-State", and adopting state frameworks), and ELA standards for grades K-2 (ELA learning components for grades 3+ are not yet available). A standard outside this coverage returns an explanatory "no learning components available" error. Always pass session_id, copied from the most recent tool result (analytics only).

Math standards only: given a CASE caseIdentifierUUID for a math standard, return the standards that come before or after it in a learning progression, based on the Student Achievement Partners (SAP) Coherence Map for Common Core State Standards in Mathematics. Calling with an ELA, science, or social studies standard returns an error, so do not call this tool for those subjects. The tool identifies prerequisite (backward) or subsequent (forward) standards and returns the equivalent state standards when an exact match exists. Use primarily to support unfinished learning (backward) and to provide forward context when appropriate. SAP guidance (summarized): unfinished learning is best addressed in the context of grade-level work; there is no single best path—multiple connected routes can be appropriate; avoid sending students more than two grade levels below the target; use progressions to identify the neighborhood of mathematics that can unlock learning while teachers bring the context for their learners. Supported frameworks include CCSS-M and state frameworks with crosswalk coverage to CCSS-M. Each result carries a matchType. 'exact' means the input matches a Common Core standard directly, so the progression standards are returned, mapped to the input's jurisdiction (progression standards with no exact equivalent there are omitted). 'partial' means the input only partially aligns; each progression standard is then returned with its Learning Components (learningComponents) so you can judge which components transfer. If the input is not a Mathematics standard, has no Common Core Mathematics alignment at all, or has no progression in the requested direction, the tool returns no standards and an explanatory message (isError: true) describing why. Always pass session_id, copied from the most recent tool result (analytics only).
